Matt May writes a touching piece honoring his cousin, Spc Luke Frist,US Army,209 QM Corps. Spc Frist died on January 5, 2004, of wounds that he sustained in an IED attack on a convoy he was a part of several days earlier.
Why write such a tribute now, over a year later? Because of the events that occured yesterday. The first truly free election in Iraq. Those elections are a first step in what we are trying to accomplish in Iraq. Spc. Frist gave his life in that effort; these elections are testament that what he was trying to do was just and right.
He was a dear friend of my niece, Gretchen. She told me about him. Am glad she was a friend of his. He will not be forgotten!
Posted by: Morris Braker at February 3, 2005 02:22 AMI know his mom and i didn't know him but i wish i would have because he seemed like a really nice guy and even though i didn't know him i will miss him and honor him every day.
Lt. General Helmsly asked in his address on Memorial Day 2005 that we remember these. Luke Frist is on his list! He quoted President Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address. May America honor and pray for those to whom we owe our freedom!
