Hmm There may be a few pockets of sanity left in the Muslim world after all...We'll have to wait and see just how ardent these people are in being willing to risk themselves in protecting Christians from the more radical segments of their faith.
It's kind of like asking the fox to guard the hen house in one sense...but we can never build trust between religious communities without taking some risks, and if these people are sincere, it will be a good first step towards building that trust...

Posted by: Gun Trash at December 13, 2005 08:30 AMIf it looks too good to be true it probably is. I remember back in '68 after Sukarno fell when the Muslims cleaned out the Communist PKI with Helo gunships flying down the streets of Jakarta shooting people, the Klongs were overflowing with bodies and many disappeared during the night. Remember that this is the same country where those Christian girls were recently beheaded.
Posted by: Jack at December 13, 2005 01:30 PMAfter spending some years in Turkey I found that it was not the average Turk on the street that wanted a problem with non muslims. It was the radical fringe. I kind of figure that is the way it is over the Islamic world. But, the moderate Muslims are going to have to take a stand and root out the radicals among them if they hope to live in peace. But, has there ever really been peace in the Muslim world? When they are not advcateing killing the infidels the Mullahs are instigating wars among the Muslims of other sects.
