Garfield on the oil crisis
A lot of folks can't understand how we came To have an oil shortage here in our country.
~~~
Well, there's a very simple answer.
~~~
Nobody bothered to check the oil.
~~~
We just didn't know we were getting low.
~~~
The reason for that is purely geographical .
~~~
Our OIL is located in
~~~
ALASKA
~~~
California
~~~
Coastal Florida
~~~
Coastal Louisiana
~~~
Kansas
~~~
Oklahoma
~~~
Pennsylvania
And Texas
~~~
Our DIPSTICKS
are located in
Washington , DC !!!
Any questions ???
NO?
I didn't think so.
yeah but there is oil in a lot more places in the country than you listed..Florida for example has production in the big Cypress swamp but the state will not let them drill another well in order to fully develop the production capability...
Posted by: GUYK at April 13, 2008 11:52 AMI think you're missing a past tense marker somewhere. All our oil WAS located in . . . (We've used most of it.) We could tear up every national park in sight and we aren't going to drill ourselves out of the peak oil problem. At best, we could buy 5 or 6 extra months. I wish you were right and that the current crisis was all due to a bureaucratic mistake.
Posted by: Karlo at April 13, 2008 12:07 PMKARLO, we really have no idea just how much oil is in Alaska, JUST SOME GUESSTIMATES, and there is a lot of oil in the Gulf that we have no idea the extent of; course' we're letting other countries drill that, seems that we don't want to "spoil pristine waters" ourselves.
Posted by: Delftsman3 at April 13, 2008 07:07 PMThere might be more up there than we know of. There might be some under the ocean. But a lot of people have been drilling down in the earth in a helluva lot places and haven't found much of any size in the last two decades. I seriously doubt that there's a Saudi sized puddle of underground oil to be found anywhere at this point.
