Billy Mays, TV pitchman extraordinaire, was found dead in his Tampa, Florida home by his wife on the morning of the 28th of June, 2009. Preliminary results of the autopsy showed that Mr. Mays probably died of a heart attack as a result of hypertensive heart disease, but final results are being withheld pending receipt of toxicology and tissue test results. Mr. Mays is survived by his second wife, Deborah Mays, and two children: a son, Billy Mays III, and a three-year-old daughter, Elizabeth.
With all the hype over Michael Jackson's death, I'm sure that Mr. Mays' death will not receive the notice it otherwise might have...but at least Farrah will have company in Heaven's waiting room now.
Mr. Mays was a pop culture icon known for his brash rapid fire style of delivery, and for the fact that in December 2008, Mays began appearing in ads for ESPN's online service, ESPN360. These ads were a slight departure for Mays as they were designed to be parodies of his and other infomercial cliches with Mays appearing to be doing a parody of himself. He also made a live appearance during the 2008 Champs Sports Bowl promoting ESPN's and ABC's January 1, 2009 bowl games.
