THE RECLAMATION OF INDEPENDENCE

Photobucket

Just as it was once necessary for our Forefathers to make a statement to assert their desires for freedom from a tyrannical ruler, it has came time for us to do the same and reassert our rights as free and independent men and women from a government that has become antithetical to that freedom and independence.

The following might be termed a REdeclaration of Independence. I am proud to say that it was written by a friend of mine who belongs to the same blog group I do.

I hereby publicly support this statement with no reservations and no disagreements as to content or tenor.

I split the text and put the bulk of the post under the fold merely for the sake of blog efficiency. I urge you to read it all,and please, if you agree with us, add your signature in the comments.

WHEN IN THE GENERATIONS SUCCEEDING the
one that pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor to
usher in the birth of the world’s only truly free nation, Liberty’s
Progeny incrementally ceded their birthright to the government
conceived and designed to serve a free people, and not be its servant,
this generation is awakening to the terrible mistake that we, and our
ancestors allowed to happen. Charged with the terrible knowledge that
comes with opened eyes, we now take up the long abdicated duty to rouse
our fellow citizens and actively wrest the power and the liberties that
have been progressively talked, cajoled, threatened, wheedled, and
extorted from us, not only by those who ostensibly served us, but by
their supporters and enablers who, by accident or design, saw fit to
usurp and disdain such freedoms, that they might be withheld, and where
impossible to withhold, might be condemned, until a corrosive contempt
for these liberties, wrapped in velvet gloves, might so suffocate the
circulation of them that this nation, conceived in liberty and the
providence of a wise and benevolent creator, might indeed perish from
the earth, plunging the rightful heirs of a proud and noble heritage in
the the darkened waters of chaos, despair, and evil that surround them,
a dank deluge that even today, other human beings actively seek to
escape from in the inspiring embrace of this blessed and free country.

We, the awakened and aware, freely accept the charge that the architects of this republic passed on to us over two centuries before, in the hope that all who partook in the blessings made possible by nation they created would somberly undertake the duties of citizens, and so appropriately train themselves in virtue, and educate themselves in the workings of the precepts and ideals set forth in their foundational documents that they would possess enough wisdom to recognize that not all threats to our freedom would come from without our ranks, the knowledge to recognize that not every chain and shackle menacing us will immediately appear to be what it actually is, and the humilitynot to assume that the ingenuity and innovation that has been the hallmark of American success has been the product of man alone.

To this end, we hereby identify and reclaim our independence from the tools used to slowly enslave a free people and usurp the freedoms that we could not be persuaded to freely give up, or voluntarily suppress the free exercise of on our own:

1. We reclaim our independence from the tyranny of ‘Political Correctness’.

The Constitution does not now, nor has it ever guaranteed a right to be free from being offended. Early successes in causing the disruption of free speech by insisting on the use of words or terms stripped of their meaning or altered by redefinition and deliberate use of ephemism, in order to avoid offending more delicate sensibilities lead to its use to deliberately avoid, delay, or prevent the free exchange and communication of ideas because we allowed ourselves to be more afraid of offending someone or being branded with a label chosen to imply that there was a problem with the offending speaker, rather than the intended recipient.

No more.

Words have meaning and names have power. But truth overcomes, when it is given the opportunity to exist unfettered by the artificial restraints that those who fear it would place upon it. The Founding Fathers knew this, which is why they favored the “marketplace of ideas” approach. And we now ratify and affirm this concept, having borne witness to the damage and impaired decision making that results when we remain silent and let others avoid any real discussion of topics, events, and ideas out of the fear that we might offend someone.

2. We reclaim our independence from your victimhood.

For too long, we have stood by silently, and allowed some to increasingly balkanize this country with sob stories of how one thing or another makes them a victim, and therefore they deserve some special deference, special preference, and recognition that they are special. We watched for too long, with growing alarm, as the hyphenated-Americans increasingly failed to take it upon themselves to overcome their victim status, yet continually expect to be rewarded for it as they brandished their victimhood like a cudgel, ready to bludgeon any who dared to question their entitlements and almost rapacious appetites to expand them.

No more.

One of the many unique blessings that this country has to offer is the presence of second and third and fourth chances. Others know this, and rather than think that the good things available to those who work for them were something that they were simply entitled to by virtue of their sob story, real or imagined, they decided to man up, and overcome. That doesn’t happen through accepting help and deciding to continually demand more. We are a generous people, but there are limits. Decide of your own accord to know the satisfaction of making your own destiny, rather than subsistence on the labor of others. You might be surprised at what you accomplish, or how that might come to benefit your fellow citizen in ways that you cannot even imagine.

3. We reclaim our independence from the myth of a compelling interest in diversity at the cost of excellence.

The latest affront to the ‘American Exceptionalism’ that our current President feels the need to apologize for in foreign capitols is the recent notion of a “compelling interest in diversity in our government, our institutions, and our culture”. This is the bastard child of Political Correctness and victimhood, which would not have been possible without the misapprehension of the concept of equality as enshrined in our law, the correct interpretation being that citizens of this country have equality of opportunity and equality in stature in the eyes of the laws that govern us. Once the “right” of offense took hold and started keeping company with victimhood, those benefiting from the employment of both decided that equality really meant that everyone had a right to be to be surrounded in all walks of life by people who looked just like them, whether those people were qualified to fulfill those roles or not.

No more.

Americans rose to prominence in the world in no small part due to the idea of merit and the pursuit of excellence. This was embodied in our government and institutions as much as in the private sector. Civil Service exams for public sector jobs ensured not only that people could do the work required of them, but that the best qualified were hired to do the job. Now, the standard in many fire departments, police departments, government agencies, and university staffs is not excellence, but the color of skin, gender, or sexual preference. The identity has eclipsed ability and we are all the poorer for it. Prepare for a change.

4. We reclaim our independence from the contempt of our citizenship.

For too long, we have silently permitted others to use the appeal of emotion to exact our acquiescence in their actively allowing people who have violated our laws to come here to live and work among us without asking permission to do so, or obeying our laws in doing so. We have allowed others to cajole us into allowing these persons to use our resources, and take benefits intended for citizens, without them being required to become citizens or apply for residence. We have been too long silent as others continually advocate for the application of the protections that are conferred upon us as our birthright to those who are not citizens and have tried to kill citizens, or have expressed a deep-seated desire to do so.

No more.

No sane person so despises something of value that is theirs by virtue of “the accident of birth” that they simply would give it away to others who want it and yet show contempt for those who have it by stealing it from them. Likewise, no sane person so dishonors a gift purchased with the blood of others that they will give it to those who only desire to kill or enslave them. No longer will we be silent as others confer all the benefits and protections of citizenship upon those who disrespect it, or would steal such benefits and protections without assuming the responsibility to pay for them, or worse yet, murder us because we have them.

5. We reclaim our independence from the “Freedom from religion” that has erroneously been read into the Constitution.

From the institution of Thanksgiving, to the architecture of our public buildings and monuments, the opening of government proceedings, down to the acknowledgment on our currency, this country has very deep and undeniable judeo-christian roots, and has been governed by leaders who unashamedly proclaimed their according personal beliefs while in office. It has influenced our laws and been the bedrock of every ideal that has allowed this nation to grow and prosper. This heritage has been the target of a decades long campaign to shove God out of the public square and exile him from congress with our elected officials by people who have refused the notion of a higher authority, because their own beliefs and desires are in contravention to those expressed by that higher authority.

No more.

Assaulting our national heritage with such dubious legal notions such as a separation of church and state that forbids any mention of God or expression of religion on or in state-owned property, and dismantling existing law with the fallacious statement “You can’t legislate morality” does violence to our history and demonstrates weak logic and understanding of what law is. The Founding Fathers’ intent with the Establishment Clause was the prevention of any one church gaining the favor and sanction of the Federal Government. A ban on ANY expression of religion or belief in God was never their intention, and the evidence of that is still surrounding us to this day. The current state of the law is based on a false premise that can be easily dismissed by a simple walk around the monuments and buildings in the District of Columbia, and taking out you wallet to pay for an ice cream cone. As for the “You can’t legislate morality” canard, this is also false. The law is, in its most simple essence, an expression of morality, codified. The question that then arises is whose morality should be expressed in the law? Those of people who can point to no particular belief system that has certain valuable virtues at its core, or those that can?

6. We reclaim independence from the cynical attempts to use shame to stop us from speaking out.

We have all felt this. The accusations that we are poor Christians because we refuse to give the government power not granted to it in the Constitution and go along with the currently contemplated healthcare reform bill. The charges that we hate the Earth and our children, because we oppose the highest single tax increase ever, combined with the deleterious effect on American jobs that would result in the passage of the Cap and Tax bill, which owes its existence to the myth of man-made global warming and the fact that it feeds the Federal Government its two favorite entrees: money and power. The charges that we are bad, greedy, selfish people for not supporting the idea that government and welfare entitlements are the way to improve the lives of Americans who are struggling, whatever the reason. The charges of “Racism” whenever we raise a provocative question or level a criticism at a person, policy, or idea that might happen to involve a person or persons who are not Caucasian.

No more.

Charges like “racist” and “racism” made without objective, quantitative support, and only the subjective justification of emotion will be ignored. The race card is maxed out, and the bank is no longer willing to extend the credit line. As for attacking our faith, or our practice thereof, we will no longer be held to account by people who do not understand the faith they would use as a weapon against believers, when the wielder subscribes to no belief system at all. Those who rely only on themselves for the regulation of their conduct and ethics no longer get to condemn those who answer to a higher authority. Not any more. We reclaim control of the shame that you have opted out of, and we will no longer allow you to use it to make us answer to you.

7. We reclaim independence from the notion that the Federal Government is the solution to every problem and the answer to every question.

For too long, we stood by and allowed debate and action on all matters, predicated upon on a destructive and dangerous idea: That the Federal Government is the only way to meet a need, fix a problem, or prevent a problem. In time it became a security blanket, and we became a nation of thumbsuckers, eager to give the federal Government more power and more money, if only it would keep us safe from life and the living of it as free people, until we no longer looked to it for protection from others who would have our liberties or destroy them; we looked to it for protection from the consequences of our own actions.

No more.

We were so fixated in seeking the federal government’s assistance with every aspect of our daily lives, no one within or without the Federal Government ever exercised restraint and said “No. The Consitution does not give the Federal Government the authority to do that.” And now that people are alert to the fact that the Federal Government is poised on the cusp of the largest power grab it has ever made with the healh care bill, some of us are finally saying “No. You do not have the authority.” The stakes have never been more obvious. Met with the anger of constituents who are actually paying attention, elected officials are employing various means to intimidate these citizens who are expressing their disgust and anger that a government that serves them would ever feel so entitled to our money and our data in the passage of something so clearly opposed by those who wold have to live under it, these servants have resorted to insulting their constituents, calling them shills in the pay of their political opponents, calling them stupid and saying that they simply did not understand the printed words on the pages of the bill, brazenly lying to them outright about what they have proposed and are considering, and filling audiences at public meetings with rent-a-mobs from the SEIU, ACORN, and others, so that they will face a friendly audience that is also hostile to the voters opposed to this latest demonstration of government off its leash. The days of promising good governance but delivering graft, corruption, and self serving sinecures are over. We do not care about your party; both have proven themselves reckless and dishonest. We demand that you act responsibly, that you do the people’s business, not your own, and we demand that you act within the confines of the Constitution. No more will we simply accept legislation that exceeds the authority strictly enumerated in the Constitution. No more will we accept interpretations of the Commerce Clause and the Necessary and Proper Clause that are so tortured and stretched beyond reason or recognition as to be unrecognizable to anyone who has read the Constitution. No longer will we accept legislation from the bench that relies not on interpretation of the Constitution, but mystical divination of mysterious penumbras that only a few ‘right-minded’ jurists can see. Those days are over, and you can return usurped powers to the states and the individual citizens in whom the Constitution rightfully places them, or you can have them stripped from you.

We, those who have come together in virtual congress to reclaim our independence from those who have by various means obtained it from us, realize that this probably wasn’t the HOPE! and CHANGE! that those persons had in mind, but nevertheless, the time has come.

Burned out

In South Los Angeles , a 4-plex was destroyed by a fire.
A Nigerian family of six con-artists lived on the first floor, and all six
died in the fire.

An Islamic group of seven welfare-cheats, all illegally in the country
from Kenya , lived on the second floor, and they, too, all perished in the fire.

Six LA, Hispanic, Gang-Banger, ex-cons, lived on the 3rd floor and they, too, died.

A lone, white couple lived on the top floor. The couple survived the fire.

Jesse Jackson, John Burris and Al Sharpton were furious. They flew into
LA and met with the fire chief, on camera. They loudly demanded to know
why the Blacks, Black Muslims and Hispanics all died in the fire and only
the white couple lived?

Education, or lack thereof

Photobucket

While perusing the local paper today, I came upon this interesting tidbit (August 29, 2009 in the archives)..seems that the oh-so-brilliant "professional educators" in the Brownsburg school district have decided that they will drastically cut back on the teaching of cursive writing in their grade schools. It isn't enough that the curriculum in the public schools systems has been "dumbed down" to the point where they are graduating functional illiterates so that little Johnny can't read, but they don't think Johnny really needs to be able to write, either. They will teach him to be able to write his name with a pen, but for the most part, they decided to concentrate on his being able to type instead.

I remember how much difficulty I had in learning cursive when I was in the second and third grade (sorry for being such a trial, Mrs. Biddle!), and I still have handwriting more worthy of a doctor's prescription pad than any sort of calligraphy in anyone's estimation; it was still a project worthy of the attempt, for the discipline it imposed if nothing else. This is just the latest example of the declining quality of a public school education ever since the Federal government became involved with public education with the founding of the Department of Education in 1980.

The DoE currently has 4,200 full time employees and an annual budget of $68.6 billion. I believe we as taxpayers have been totally remiss in demanding a decent return on our investment. Turning over our children's educations to the tender mercies of the NEA and other professional Teachers Unions has been an unmitigated disaster by any reasonable measure you could propose.

The NEA would have you believe it's because we aren't spending enough, yet expenditures have risen every year since the DoE was founded, and the end results have grown more dismal with every passing year. Those districts that spend the most, on the whole, tend to have the worst results by every accepted standard.

WE the PEOPLE need to get more involved with the process and DEMAND that REAL reforms be made, beginning with the abolishment of the National Department of Education. Control needs to be remanded back to the local level, where parents AND teachers can have more control over what is taught and how it is taught.

If the Brownsburg parents allow their school district to get away with not doing what they are paid to do, they are being remiss in their responsibilities to their children. IMHO They should fire the person(s) responsible for this idiotic decision and get people in those positions of power to actually effect real school reforms. They shouldn't have to fear the threat of a loss of federal funds because they refuse to follow the dictates of the latest fad in educational theory.

The old truism is that "them that pay get to make the rules" and the Federal government should never have gained the power to dictate to the local districts.
It's up to us to strip that power away and put it back in our own hands, where it belongs.

Got Kennedy Funeral Overload? Here's some relief from the fawning of the MSM

With all the hype honoring Ted Kennedy in the course of his death and funeral; it might behoove you to read A Sober Look at Ted Kennedy.

It's an investigative reporter's look into Sen. Kennedy's past that isn't tarnished by bias either pro or con; a "just the facts ma'am" treatise on a man. It was written by Michael Kelly after three months of reporting, thousands of pages of research, and over seventy interviews with everyone in Washington, from congressmen to waiters on Capitol Hill. It was written in 1990..just imagine the shenanigans that Teddy engaged in, SINCE that time, up to his death.

As a side note, Michael Kelly the first reporter killed in Iraq when his Humvee turned over in the course of a terrorist Dissatisfied Islamist attack man-made disastrous event in 2003.

And please, pass it along to your Liberal friends, it'll be fun to watch their heads explode with feigned fury/anguish.

Riding a Dead Whale to National Health Care

Photobucket

The Democrats are using the death of Ted "The Swimmer" Kennedy as an impetus to try to pass the ObamaCare ChappaquiddickCare bill through on a wave of sympathy for the late Senator, claiming it was the bill he most wished to get passed....knowing Teddy's proclivities for harassing women, might it be said that the Dims want to "Win One for the Zipper"?

Let the Jokes begin:

A man calls Kennedy’s office and asks for the senator. the receptionist says ” I’m sorry, Senator Kennedy is dead”. the man says thank you and hangs up.

The next day the man calls back, same thing, ” may i speak with the senator?”. ” I’m sorry sir, Senator Kennedy is dead.” ” thank you”.

On the third day he calls again and the receptionist recognizes his voice and asks why he keeps calling back, “the Senator is dead.” “I know”, he says ” I just haven’t gotten tired of hearing it.”

******************************************************************
Ted Kennedy has been sober for 12 hours now..

******************************************************************
What did Teddy tell Mary Jo when he found out she was pregnant?

"We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it."

******************************************************************

What’s the difference between Michael Jackson and Teddy Kennedy?
About 2 months of decay!

******************************************************************

Ted also had a plan to stimulate the Auto industry but his program was called “cash for kerplunkers”.

******************************************************************

The Kennedy family was spared the expense of embalming Teddy -- he'd done that himself over the last fifty years.

******************************************************************

I understand cremation was briefly considered as an option but rejected because of the fire/explosion hazard...

******************************************************************

Ted Kennedy is a shovel ready project --- How many jobs added to the economy will Obama claim for the funeral?

Kennedy

They are just about ready to contaminate Arlington National Cemetery with the bloated whale carcass formerly know as Ted"The Swimmer" Kennedy. (Yes, I know that as a veteran during time of war; and as having had the third longest tenure as a Senator in history he "qualifies" for the honor, but I still think it's a damned shame REAL heroes will have to try to maintain their eternal rest peaceful with the likes of Teddy in their midst)

Might I suggest the following as his dirge?:

And before you bleeding heart Liberal/Progressive Jackasses(but I repeat myself) excoriate me for "bad taste" in dealing with a death; I think Teddy would have enjoyed the dig...by all accounts, he was always asking if there were any new "Swimmer" jokes floating around (when he wasn't too busy keeping the Dewars distillery in business or harassing young women with his nephews, that is).

Well, Beth's older brother, Bret, and three of his children just left from their little visit here at the Citadel. Beth hadn't seen her brother in ten years, so it was a great re-union and a chance to meet de nieces and da Nephew as real people and not the babies they were. They were returning from taking the oldest progeny, Courtney, to Dance College in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Jason had had his twelfth(?) birthday yesterday, so, we got some ice cream cake/muffins to have something to put some B-day candles in. And we had an set of Nerf guns that had been hidden in the closet to give him as a present.

I got to show off my Goldwing (something I don't have to be pushed to hard to do under any circumstances ! LOL ). I gave them all a short ride ( I think the youngest, Brittney, is a natural motorcyclist, she took to it like a duck to water...I thought she would be scared, but she actually stood up on the footplates to get more wind!). Jennifer, her older sis, was a natural passenger. I think she enjoyed the wind blowing through her hair almost as much as I do.
If you ever get the bug, Bret, let me know and I'll see what kind of a deal I can find for you.

The kittens we have residing in our garage were a big hit with the kids (too bad they are too young; I'd have loved to pawn a couple of them off to go back to Texas---(I'm SURE Melissa would have loved THAT!! LMAO).

I think a good time was had by all, and I would look forward to a visit from them any time they could get here; I hope they would feel the same way about returning.

If Jennifer sends me the pictures she took of the kittens and the bike, I'll try to post them. (hint, hint, nudge, nudge) J/k, Jen.

About Change

There's an old sea story in the Navy about a ship's Captain who inspected
his sailors, and afterward told the Chief Bosun that his men smelled bad.

The Captain suggested perhaps it would help if the sailors would change
their underwear occasionally. The Chief responded, "Aye, aye sir, I'll see to
it immediately!"

The Chief went straight to the sailors berth deck and announced, "The
Captain thinks you guys smell bad and wants you to change your underwear.
"Pittman, you change with Jones, McCarthy, you change with Witkowski, and
Brown, you change with Schultz. Now get to it!!!"

THE MORAL:
Someone may be promising "change" in Washington, but don't count on
things smelling any better!

AMA weighs in on ObamaCare

Apparently the American Medical Association has weighed in on
the new Health Care Initiatives from the Obama Administration....
The Allergists voted to scratch it, but the Dermatologists
advised not to make any rash moves..
The Gastroenterologists had sort of a gut feeling about it, but
the Neurologists thought the Administration had a lot of nerve.
The Obstetricians felt they were all laboring under a
misconception. Ophthalmologists considered the idea shortsighted.
Pathologists yelled, "Over my dead body!" while the
Pediatricians said, 'Oh, Grow up!'
Oncologists fear it's malignant, while Osteopaths see it as
holistic.
The Psychiatrists thought the whole idea was madness, while the
Radiologists could see right through it.
Surgeons decided to wash their hands of the whole thing.. The
Internists thought it was a bitter pill to swallow, and the Plastic
Surgeons said, "This puts a whole new face on the matter."
The Podiatrists thought it was a step forward, but the
Urologists were pissed off at the whole idea.
The Anesthesiologists thought the whole idea was a gas, and the
Cardiologists didn't have the heart to say no.
In the end, the Proctologists won out, leaving the entire
decision up to the assholes in Washington ..

The Woman Balloonist

A woman in a hot air balloon realized she was lost. She lowered her
altitude and spotted a man in a boat below. She shouted to him, "Excuse
me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago,
but I don't know where I am."

The man consulted his portable GPS and replied, "You're in a hot air
balloon, approximately 30 feet above ground elevation of 2,346 feet
above sea level. You are at 31 degrees, 14..97 minutes north latitude
and 100 degrees, 49 .09 minutes west longitude."

"She rolled her eyes and said, "You must be a Republican." "I am,"
replied the man. "How did you know?"

"Well," answered the balloonist, "everything you told me is technically
correct. But I have no idea what to do with your information, and I'm
still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help to me."

The man smiled and responded, "You must be an Obama Democrat." "I am,"
replied the balloonist. "How did you know?"

"Well," said the man, "you don't know where you are or where you are
going. You've risen to where you are, due to a large quantity of hot
air. You made a promise you have no idea how to keep, and you expect me
to solve your problem. You're in exactly the same position you were in
before we met, but somehow, now it's my fault."

Two Quotes to Ponder:

"Life's tough......it's even tougher if you're stupid." -- John Wayne

"We live in the greatest nation in the history of the world.
I hope you'll join with me as we try to change it." -- Barack Obama

Unfortunately, we are now beginning to understand what the second one means and what the first says about us.

Quote of the Day

“We are God’s partners in matters of life and death.” --Barrack Hussein Obama

The Poseur in Chief made the above statement in a conference call with the Religion Action Center of Reform Judaism, which is comprised of roughly 1,000 Rabbis of varying sects of Judaism, saying that he would need their assistance in getting "significant" health-care reform passed.

Tell me, thou high and mighty pundits from Lunaville Left, what was that you said about President Bush when he tried to start some faith-based poverty programs?
Separation of Church and State, I believe, was the theme of the ranting?
So just what would you call this?!?! Not to mention the fact that, unlike President Bush, he had the unmitigated gall to essentially, place himself on an equal partnership footing with God? I'm not religious by hardly any normal definition of the term, but even I observed this as a demonstration of hubris unequaled by any other politician in my lifetime. It was also reported by one of the participants that the hold music prior to the call being opened was the music used for the Third Reich's anthem, Deutchland uber Alles !!
Yes, I'm aware the music itself is really Op 76 No 3 "Emperor" string quartet in C. by Hayden; it's a lovely piece of music and was only appropriated by the Nazi regime for it's anthem with words attached to it entirely unrelated to the music...as was the "twisted cross" symbol of the Regime; but to play music with such connotations attached to it by that foul Regime to a group of JEWS ?!?)

Is this man just TRYING to find rock bottom in his demonstrations of naivete, hubris, or plain pathological stupidity?

BTW...if those "death panels" in the ObamaCare proposals that were decried by many, such as Sarah Palin, were truly non-existent, (at least as a possibility) just what did Teh WON mean about "WE (the government and religious leaders) being the ones to make life and death decisions" in regard to health care?

I just hope he remembers, THIS time, the Jews WILL be armed, and the general population will be standing shoulder to shoulder with them.

Greed? Or enlightened Self-Interest?

Milton Friedman sets Phil Donahue straight.

I wonder what Friedman would have thought about pResident Obama, I'm sure the Obamabots would have clogged up Flag@whitehouse.gov, denouncing him for spreading "fishy" rumors about how ObamaCare was fiscally unsustainable...

Life in the Nursing Home

Ethel was a bit of a demon in her wheelchair, and loved to charge around the nursing home, taking corners on one wheel and getting up to maximum speed on the long corridors.

Because the poor woman was one sandwich short of a picnic ' the other residents tolerated her and some of them actually joined in.

One day Ethel was speeding up one corridor when a door opened and Kooky Clarence stepped out with his arm outstretched. 'STOP!' he shouted in a firm voice. 'Have you got a license for that thing?'

Ethel fished around in her handbag and pulled out a Kit Kat wrapper and held it up to him. 'OK' he said, and away Ethel sped down the hall.

As she took the corner near the TV lounge on one wheel, weird Harold popped out in front of her and shouted 'STOP! Have you got proof of insurance?'

Ethel dug into her handbag, pulled out a drink coaster and held it up to him. Harold nodded and said 'On your way, Ma'am.'

As Ethel neared the final corridor, Crazy Craig stepped out in front of her, Butt- Naked, and holding his 'You-Know-What' in his hand.

Oh, good grief,' yelled Ethel, 'Not that Damn Breathalyzer Test again!

R.I.P.

A music legend died yesterday. Inventor and musician Lester William Polsfuss, died at White Plains Hospital of complications from Pneumonia. He was 94 years young.

So what you say? Are you a fan of Rock and Roll music? Heavy Metal? Country? Blues?, Jazz? If you enjoy any of these forms of entertainment, you owe a great debt to Mr. Polsfuss.

Better known as Les Paul, Mr. Polsfuss was the inventor of the solid body electric guitar, and was the leading developer of multitrack recording techniques
used by almost every recording musician in the world today. He is also credited with inventing or discovering many recording innovations including overdubbing (also known as sound on sound), delay effects such as tape delay, phasing effects, and multitrack recording.

His innovative talents extended into his own playing style, including licks, trills, chording sequences, fretting techniques and timing, which set him apart from his contemporaries and inspired many of the guitarists down to the present day.

In 1941,Les Paul introduced the first solid body electric guitar in the world...the first prototype was a 4'x4" piece of wood with steel strings strung on it. He played the instrument in a local nightclub and was deemed "a nut" for doing it...He added wooden "wings" to what he termed "The Log" to make it look like a more conventional guitar shape and the rest is music history.
Gibson Guitars started marketing the Les Paul Guitar in 1952, and it quickly became THE standard in guitars for a new form of music in it's infancy, a little fad called "Rock and Roll".

Les Paul, along with his wife, Mary Ford, garnered 36 gold records playing with his new invention. They had two number one hits; "VayaCon Dios", and "How High the Moon". His active music career spanned almost 80 years, from 1928 to 2009.

Mr. Paul continued to be an active musician up until the end of his life, playing in various New York night spots. Stars such as Jimmy Page (Led Zepplin), Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits), Bruse Springsteen, and Eddie Van Halen would often sit in with him, paying due homage to the Maestro.

He truly left a great legacy that few can come close to matching.

Protesters are "right-wing Nuts"

Why is it that when protests are held by every Left wing America hating fringe group, the MSM media portrays them as being "freedom loving activists" but whenever a protest is held by those that merely want the Constitution to be held to that they are "out of touch" Rightwing wacko's ?

This pResident is proposing to nationalize one sixth of our GDP without so much as a question raised, and those questioning that trend are portrayed as "haters", "Racists", or worse.

Question the pResident? Unpatriotic! Dangerous! Un-American!

Yet look back over the last eight years and I challenge you to find a day where President Bush wasn't vilified by protesters, or worse, members of the MSM itself.

Remember this?
Photobucket
This is one of the signs that President Bush was greeted with by hostile protesters on a fund raising trip to Portland, Oregon, in August 2002. Patriotic? Mild?, Americanism at it's finest? I dun't theenk so, Lucy!

Those afflicted with a bad case of BDS are STILL blaming President Bush for everything under the sun from the economy to the heartbreak of psoriasis, six months after he's been out of power.

Accuse me of ODS if you will, at least I can point to FACTS WHY I detest the actions of the current occupant of the Oval Office, not some amorphous accusations that he's evil incarnate.

At least the anti-ObamaCare crowd isn't being paid to appear!

Quotes of the Day

"Education is useless without the Bible." "In my view, the Christian religion is the most important and one of the first things in which all children, under a free government ought to be instructed.... No truth is more evident to my mind than that the Christian religion must be the basis of any government intended to secure the rights and privileges of a free people." -- Noah Webster (In the forward of the 1828 Webster's American Dictionary)

"It is the duty of all men in society, publicly, and at stated seasons, to worship the SUPREME BEING, the great Creator and Preserver of the universe."-- John Adams

"The belief in a God All Powerful wise and good, is so essential to the moral order of the world and to the happiness of man, that arguments which enforce it cannot be drawn from too many sources nor adapted with too much solicitude to the different characters and capacities impressed with it."--James Madison

Really sounds like the Founders were really seriously concerned with a separation of Church and State, doesn't it?

For all the vigor that Secularists expound on this so-called "bedrock" principle in our Nation's public ethos, I defy them to show ONE example of that being demonstrated in ANY of our Founding documents, or by any public statement of ANY of the Founders. It simply doesn't exist. Religion was more a part of everyday life in that era, and the Founders had every expectation that that condition would remain to our modern day; they had no conception of separating their religious convictions from their public ones; indeed, their religious convictions formed the BASE for their public convictions and their subsequent actions.

They rebelled against England not because of some amorphous feeling of dissatisfaction, but because they felt that the Crown was infringing upon and denying them the rights that they considered to be their birthright gift from GOD.

In that one way, our Constitution is unique in all the world, as it enumerates certain basic rights that are bestowed on every Citizen by virtue of being a child of God, and that the State may not infringe upon. In other words; those rights are inherent, and are not bestowed to the People by the State, but by a Higher Authority. It also recognizes that Higher Authority to be greater than the power of the State itself.

I believe that this is the greatest cause of the divisions we are experiencing in our political arguments today; a large segment of our political class have forgotten that they are NOT the be-all and end-all final Authority in the lives of our citizenry. Even those of our Citizens that do not profess any certain sect of religion still share in the common Ethos provided, in the most part, by the Judeo-Christian traditions and beliefs. Without that common ethos, the system begins to break down, and in the end, that lack of a common Ethos WILL lead to tyranny as surely as the sun rises in the East..

DAMN FINE EXPLANATION

The wife came home early and found her husband in their bedroom making love to a very attractive young woman.
And she was somewhat upset. 'You are a disrespectful pig!' she cried. 'How dare you do this to me -- a faithful wife, the mother of your children? I am leaving you... I want a divorce right away!'

And the husband replied, 'Hang on just a minute love so at least I can tell you what happened.' 'Fine, go ahead,' she sobbed,' but they will be the last words you will say to me!
And the husband began -- 'Well, I was getting into the
car to drive home, and this young lady here asked me for a lift. She looked so down and out and defenseless that I took pity on her and let her into the car.
I noticed that she was very thin, not well dressed, and very dirty. She told me that she had not eaten for three days.

So, in my compassion, I brought her home and warmed up the enchiladas I made for you last night, the ones you would not eat because you're afraid you'll put on weight. The poor thing devoured them in moments.

Since she needed a good clean up, I suggested a shower, and while she was doing that, I noticed her clothes were dirty and full of holes, so I threw them away. Then, as she needed clothes, I gave her the designer jeans that you have had for a few years, but
do not wear because you say they are too tight. I also gave her the underwear that was your anniversary present, which you do not wear because I do not have good taste.

I found the sexy blouse my sister gave you for Christmas that you don't wear just to annoy her, and I also donated those boots you bought at the expensive boutique and don't wear because someone at work has a pair the same.’ The husband took a quick breath and continued - 'She was so grateful for my understanding and help that as I walked her to the door, she turned to me with tears in her eyes and said,

'Please ...

Do you have anything else that your wife doesn't use?

The Robot Bartender

A man walked into a very high-tech bar. As he sat down on a stool he
noticed that the bartender was a robot. The robot clicked to attention and
asked, "Sir, what will you have?"

The man thought a moment then replied, "A martini please."

The robot clicked a couple of times and mixed the best martini the man
had ever had.

The robot then asked, "Sir, what is your IQ?"

The man answered "oh, about 164."

The robot then proceeded to discuss the 'theory of relativity',
'inter-steller space travel', 'the latest medical break throughs',
etc.......

The man was most impressed. He left the bar but thought he would try a
different tact. He returned and took a seat. Again the robot clicked
and asked what he would have? "A Martini please."

Again it was superb. The robot again asked "what is your IQ sir?"

This time the man answered, "Oh about 100". So the robot started
discussing Nascar racing, the latest basketball scores, and what to expect the
Dodgers to do this weekend.

The guy had to try it one more time. So he left, returned and took a
stool.... Again a martini, and the question, "What is your IQ?"??

This time the man drawled out "Uh..... bout 50".

The robot clicked then leaned close and very slowly asked,

.....................

"A-r-e? y-o-u-r? p-e-o-p-l-e??? h-a-p-p-y? w-i-t-h O-B-A-M-A?????

Just Rambling

I don't have much to say today, nothing that I haven't already said at one point or another. My rant muse seems to have taken a vacation at the moment; I read all the BS that our Dear Leader is espousing and I just can't seem to come up with anything new to write about it that hasn't already been said much better by others.

I just can't afford to let my blood pressure get to the astronomical proportions it achieves every time I try to plumb the depths of Teh WON's perfidity.

That takes care of politics. The weather today seems to be pretty fair, if hot...I may take a cruise on the GoldWing and see if there are scattered T-storms in the area; the one sure way to find rain is to either wash your car, or ride your motorcycle, and since I don't care to wash the car, the ride it is...

Be back later, go have fun and don't spend so much time at your keyboard; Summer is fast approaching it's end, and you'll have plenty of opportunity to be online when the cold winds begin to blow.

Ronald Magnus Speaks

Take the time to watch this speech from the 1964 GOP Convention. Ronald Reagan had it right then, and if you really LISTEN, you'll see just how far astray Teh WON is trying to take us. In 2010 we will face a vital decision; whether to continue down the path of Socialism, or try to return to the strong roots our Founders laid down for us. A Time of Choosing, indeed.

You might want to notice that there is no teleprompter present either...for all that the Left lauds the oratory skills of the Obamatron, ask yourself; when was the last time he spoke in public without that (to him) vital aid. He even uses them in press conferences, the first First Executive to ever do so.

Quotes of the Day

"Honor, justice, and humanity, forbid us tamely to surrender that

endure the infamy and guilt of resigning succeeding generations to

Fairy Dust

A beautiful fairy appeared one day to a destitute
refugee claimant outside a Maryland immigration office.

' Good man,' the fairy said, 'I've been sent here by
President Obama and told to grant you three wishes, since
you just arrived in the United States with your wife and three children.'

The man told the fairy. 'Well, where I come from we don't have good teeth, so I want new teeth, maybe a lot of gold in them.'

The fairy looked at the man's almost toothless grin and --

PING !

-- he had a brand new shining set of gold teeth in his mouth!

'What else?' asked the fairy, 'two more to go.'

The refugee claimant now got bolder.

'I need a big house with a three car garage in Annapolis on the water with
eight bedrooms for my family and the rest of my relatives
who still live in my country. I want to bring them all over here'....

PING !

-- In the distance there could be seen a beautiful mansion with a three car garage, a long driveway, a walkout patio with a BBQ in an upscale neighborhood overlooking the bay.

'One more wish', said the fairy, waving her wand.

'Yes, one more wish.'

'I want to be like an American with American clothes instead of
these clothes, and a baseball cap instead of this turban. And I want to have white skin like Americans.' --

PING !

- The man was transformed, wearing worn out jeans, a Baltimore Orioles T-shirt and a baseball cap. He had his bad teeth back and the mansion had disappeared from the horizon.

'What happened to my new teeth?' he wailed.

'Where is my new house?'

The fairy said 'Tough crap, Mac, Now that you are a White American, you have to fend for yourself.'

And then she disappeared.

I do have to give Obama credit, I have never seen anyone else more capable of speaking out of both sides of his mouth at once than he is.

There are usually only two sides to an argument...Barry seems to be able to argue at least SIX sides of any argument at the same time. I think it's a good example of the old axiom "if you don't have the facts, just dazzle them with Bull Shit".

Another Nail in the Coffin

The Senate confirmed Sonia Sotomayor Thursday as the first Hispanic justice on the Supreme Court. The vote was 68-31 for Sotomayor, President Barack Obama's first high court nominee. She becomes the 111th justice and just the third woman to serve.

Congratulations to Ms. Sotomayor and the Fiddy Two'rs that led to her selection as one of the most powerful people in the U.S.

Since she replaces Justice David Souter, her liberal activist views won't make too much difference initially in the general decisions of the Court, but since there are at least two other Justices that will most likely need to be replaced before the end of pResident Obama's first term; she is the beachhead placement that will swing the Court to be the most radically Liberal it has ever been.

My personal grudge, and I fully admit it's MY bias, is Ms. Sotomayor's cavalier attitude towards the Second Amendment, and her unswerving defense of PC affirmative action (not the TRUE AA of equal opportunity, but the mere plugging in of racial/sexual quota numbers to achieve "fairness").

We can only truly judge her performance once she's been on the Court for a few years and she's had the opportunity to show her true colors; I am willing to give her the benefit of the doubt for the time being; she may surprise everyone - it has happened before. BUT I would exhort all my fellow believers in the 2Nd A. to batten down the hatches and dig in for the long difficult fight I believe is just beginning. Keep the ammo locker well stocked.

OK, so this poster has started appearing all over the Los Angles area...

So what, You say, just political satire/commentary? Right? The normal snarkyness associated with our freewheeling libertarian type of political system.

Well according to the local Dimicrat powers that be: “Depicting the president as demonic and a socialist goes beyond political spoofery;it is mean-spirited and dangerous.”

You know, I never heard ONE word of protest over the last eight years when President Bush was depicted as Hitler, or a big eared monkey, or any of the other 20 variations of satiric depictions that were displayed in the public media on a daily basis; it was just "blowing off some steam" when progressive pundits publicly advocated the assassination of President Bush in (according to them, unserious) tones. Yet let anyone depict their Icon in any manner other than in the most reverent, and it's suddenly a case of being beyond the pale for political discourse.

It's almost as if Hopey-Changetude were a religion with pResident OBamba as its god, and any that questioned Teh WON were committing blasphemy of the highest order...and you know what happened to blasphemers in the past.

Personally, I need to go see a guy at my local print shop and see what it would cost to print a thousand posters .... and maybe see about getting a Nomex firesuit?

Update: This picture was published in Vanity Fair on July 29, 2008....

What was that about "mean-spirited and dangerous” ?!? Well? Here's some of the comments that article provoked:

"Great stuff from the talented Friedman (as always). As "agents of chaos" go, W's right up there with the best of 'em."

"So true. Only his puppet strings are missing. :-)"

"Very good!!!"

"Poor Joker, he doesn't deserve this. Bush isn't good enough to wear his face."

"Brilliant and profound."

And those are just the first five of over 75 comments and they got more malicious as the thread grew...

Goose, don't complain when it's YOU instead of the gander being cooked.

Happy Birthday !

Photobucket

On this day in 1790 the U.S. Coast Guard was created by Congress, which authorized Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton to build a small fleet of 10 cutters to protect the coast. It now constitutes an active-duty force of just under 42,000 individuals, with 11 different types of aircraft and 34 different types of ships and boats, ranging in size from a 21' navigation assistance boat all the way to a 420' Ice Breaker. Both naval and air operations are conducted 24/7, no matter what the weather conditions. The Coast Guard's responsibilities run the gamut from interdiction of smuggling and law enforcement within our territorial waters, all the way to search and rescue operations within our territorial waters.

The Coast Guard serves a critical role under the Department of Homeland Security in the vital job of protecting our nation from all who would do her harm, and I for one would like to offer thanks and gratitude for a tough job well done.

Happy Birthday and Semper Paratus!

Quote of the Day

"With respect to the two words 'general welfare,' I have always regarded them as qualified by the detail of powers connected with them. To take them in a literal and unlimited sense would be a metamorphosis of the Constitution into a character which there is a host of proofs was not contemplated by its creators." --James Madison

There you have it, right from the horses mouth. The Progressives would have you believe that the Federal government is,and of a right, SHOULD be, the final "safety net" for those on the low side of the spectrum. As you can see from the quote above, that was as far from the Founders original intent as it's possible to get.

The Founders believed in the equality of OPPORTUNITY, not the equality of outcome. The Federal government has usurped powers unto itself that are far beyond what the Constitution granted it, and it's up to US to rein that out of control animal back in line.

The Founders knew that a strong Federal Government would ALWAYS lead to tyranny, and took great pains to limit that central government to prevent said tyranny; WE have been lax in guarding against the pernicious gathering of Federal authority since the days of Woodrow Wilson and all but ceded control to the Government under Franklin Roosevelt, with the natural result of ever increasing intrusions upon our personal liberties ever since.

The Federal government is like a locomotive barreling down a steep slope, gaining speed and momentum at a geometric rate, I pray that we can get the brakes to hold to bring the train to a stop, but I fear it has reached the point where only a bloody derailment will accomplish that goal.
