Simple solutions are always the best...



Here's a solution to all the controversy over full-body scanners

Have a booth that you can step into that will not X-ray you, but will detonate any explosive device you may have on you.

It would be a win-win for everyone, and there would be none of this crap about racial profiling!!!!!

Hey, DHS, Here I am !

It seems that The Department of Homeland Security is monitoring social websites in an effort to root out possible "domestic terrorists".. at least as Janet Napolitano defines them.

In the interest of helping her be more efficient and all encompassing, I hereby state some of MY views for the public record (maybe I'll get the DHS equivalent of a fatwā ?):

1. I am a fervent believer in the 2nd Amendment. I believe that all citizens except convicted felons have the right to carry a gun, either openly or concealed. I further believe that we should NOT have to obtain a permit to do so. I do not believe that there should be registration lists of privately- owned guns. I believe that private citizens should be allowed to own machine guns and so-called "assault" weapons. (although, I, for one, could never afford to shoot one on any regular type basis...)

2. I believe that ObamaCare is a sham; it is an attempt by the government to make its citizens dependent on the government. It is a naked Socialist power grab.

3. I believe that President Obama IS a Socialist. I believe that he is a clear and present danger to the Republic.

4. I believe the Patriot Act should be allowed to expire; it gives too much power to the government, no matter who is president, or which Party holds a majority.

5. I believe in individual responsibility, and believe that government has accrued too much power unto itself over our lives.

6. I believe that the income tax system the government currently employs is unfair and regressive. I believe that the current system (a progressive income tax) stems from a Socialist belief system and is a great factor in limiting our growth potential as a nation. I would replace it with the Fair Tax system.

7. I believe that the majority of politicians in both Houses, and of BOTH parties are complicit in corruption. At the very least most of them are not adhering to our Founder's principles, nor the Constitution.

8. I believe in States' Rights over Federalism.

9. I believe that higher education has been suborned by Socialists, and that it has become more of an indoctrination system than an education system.

10. I believe that "Political Correctness" is an abomination that is slowly eating away at the foundations of the Republic.

11. I believe that Affirmative Action is an idea that may have been needed at one time, but whose time is past. As currently employed, it amounts to reverse racism.

12. I believe in the smallest amount of government needed to maintain the Republic. I believe the current government (BOTH Parties) is attempting to un-Constitutionally usurp more power to itself than the Founders ever wished it to have.

13, I believe that the U.N. is an organization run BY, and FOR dictators. I believe that the ultimate end agenda of the U.N. is to institute a one-world government.

14. I believe that abortion is MURDER. I believe that Planned Parenthood is, at it's core, a eugenics and a racist movement. They do NOT believe in "Choice", they believe in abortion murder.

15. I believe the "Progressive" movement is anti-family and anti-American. It is Socialism by slow stages. I believe Socialism/Communism is one of the greatest evils ever unleashed on this planet.

16. I am a gun-owning Veteran. I am unashamedly patriotic. I am VERY conservative in my fiscal and moderately conservative in my social views.

17. I believe that ILLEGAL immigration is corrupting our Republic. I further believe that politicians on both sides of the aisle are pandering to ILLEGAL immigrants in a self serving interest of garnering votes. I believe that the Democrats are more blatant in this course than the Republicans are, but that Republicans seem not to be interested in stopping the flow (of illegals)either. (NO I am NOT anti-immigration, I AM an immigrant. I believe in LEGAL emigration.)

18. I believe in school vouchers.

19. I fervently believe in the Free Market/Capitalist system.

20. I do not believe in 'Hate' crime legislation; ALL crime is based on hate/greed. There should not be special distinction based on race, sexual orientation, religion, gender, etc.

21. I do not believe in 'Gay' rights. Gays should have the same civil protections as anyone else, without being singled out for special considerations. I do not believe in Gay marriage; I believe that civil unions could perform the same function for Gays as marriage does for Heterosexuals.


So, Am I a domestic terrorist? I don't believe I am, but Ms. Napalitano might differ with me

THE COW AND THE ICE CREAM

ONE OF THE BEST EXPLANATIONS OF WHY OBAMA WON THE ELECTION

--From a teacher in the Nashville area

"We are worried about 'the cow' when it is all about the 'Ice Cream.'

The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade this year...

The presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest.

I decided we would have an election for a class president.

We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote.

To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members.

We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have.

We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot.

The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids.

I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support.

I had never seen Olivia's mother.

The day arrived when they were to make their speeches.

Jamie went first.

He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better

place. He ended by promising to do his very best.

Everyone applauded and he sat down.

Now is was Olivia's turn to speak.

Her speech was concise.

She said, "If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream."

She sat down.

The class went wild. "Yes! Yes!

We want ice cream."

She surely would say more. She did not have to.

A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream?

She wasn't sure.

Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it.

She didn't know.

The class really didn't care.

All they were thinking about was ice cream.

Jamie was forgotten. Olivia won by a landslide.

Every time Barack Obama opened his mouth he offered ice cream and

52 percent of the people reacted like nine year olds.

They want ice cream.

The other 48 percent know

they're going to have to feed the cow and clean up the mess."

This is the ice cream Obama promised us!

Finally, someone has the guts to point out the obvious to a reporter. It gladdens me all the more that it was one of my birth countrymen that did it.
If your job is to report on sports, I would think that at least a basic knowledge of the sport and it's top players should be a prerequisite for you to get the job.

Another Newfie Joke

A Newfie walks into a bar and he realizes it's a gay bar. But what the heck, he says to himself, "I can really use a drink."

When the gay waiter approaches, he says to the Newfie, "What's the name of your weewee?" The Newfie says, "Look, I'm not into any of that, all I want is a drink." The gay waiter says, "I'm sorry but I can't serve you until you tell me the name of your weewee. Mine for instance is called Nike, for the slogan 'Just Do It,' and that guy down at the end of the bar calls his, Snickers, because it really 'Satisfies.'"

The newfie looks dumbfounded so the bartender tells him he will give him a second to think it over. So the Newfie asks the man sitting to his left, who is sipping on a beer, "Hey bud, what's the name of yours?" The man looks back and says with a smile "Timex," and the thirsty Newfie asks, "Why Timex?" The fella proudly replies, "Cause it takes a lickin'and keeps on tickin!"

A little shaken, the Newfie turns to two fellas on his right, who happen to be sharing a fruity Margarita and says, "So, what do you guys call yours?" The first man turns to him and proudly exclaims, "FORD, because Quality is Job One." Then he adds, "Have you driven a Ford lately?" The guy next to him then says, "I call mine CHEVY, 'Like A Rock.'" and gives a wink.

Even more shaken the Newfie has to think for a moment before he comes up with a name. He exclaims, "The name of my weewee is 'SECRET.' Now give me a beer.."

The bartender begins to pour the Newfie a beer, but with a puzzled look asked, "Why Secret?"

The Newfie says, "Because it's STRONG ENOUGH FOR A MAN, BUT MADE FOR A WOMAN."

THREE NUNS WERE ATTENDING A YANKEE BASEBALL GAME.

THREE MEN WERE SITTING DIRECTLY BEHIND. BECAUSE THEIR HABITS WERE PARTIALLY BLOCKING THE VIEW, THE MEN DECIDED TO BADGER THE NUNS HOPING THAT THEY'D GET ANNOYED ENOUGH TO MOVE TO ANOTHER AREA.

IN A VERY LOUD VOICE, THE FIRST GUY SAID,

"I THINK I'M GOING TO MOVE TO UTAH . THERE ARE ONLY 100 NUNS LIVING THERE."


THEN THE SECOND GUY SPOKE UP AND SAID,

Another PC Idiot shows her true colors

Meghan McCain went on The View the other day and showed her ignorance when she stated:

"Congressman Tancredo went on TV, and he was the first opening speaker, and he said, "People who could not even spell the word 'vote' or say it in English put a committed socialist ideologue in the White House whose name is Barack Hussein Obama." And then he went on to say that people at the convention should have to pass literacy tests in order to be able to vote in this country, which is the same thing that happened in the 50s to prevent African-Americans from voting. It's innate racism, and I think it's why young people are turned off by this movement. And I'm sorry, but revolutions start with young people, not with 65-year-old people talking about literacy tests and people who can't say the word 'vote' in English."

Miss McStain is just another example of the ignorant PC indoctrinated"intelligentsia" produced by our higher education system.

FIVE people under 30 out of a group of sixty-one ..

Those five must have had some REALLY powerful mojo to lead the the other fifty-six founders to agree to revolt against the Crown. And remember, most of the Founders were in the upper classes of Colonial society; they had the best life possible under the British regime, they were the type of people that had the most to lose if the Revolution were to be unsuccessful and at the time the British army was the most powerful on Earth, so the outcome was far from certain. The Founders were radicals in that they believed that the freedom of the individual was the paramount ideal, and they were willing to risk their own high societal status, and their very lives, to gain that freedom.

As far as literacy goes, I believe it would be a good idea to have a test before being allowed to vote. Do you really believe that someone who can't be bothered to gain a basic level of literacy in this era of state provided education is really someone qualified to make important political decisions?

Ditto with not being able to communicate in English. If you want to participate as a citizen of a country, you should at least make a basic effort to speak that countries language. Providing ballots and election materials in foreign languages is just asinine. There is NO other country in the world that does that.

A certain segment of politicians are pushing the multi-lingual agenda for their own selfish partisan agenda and/or in the basest interest of just getting re-elected in perpetuity, even though that agenda is destructive to the basic principles of our country.

THE REDNECK VASECTOMY

An oldie but a goodie....


After their 11th child, an Alabama couple decided that was enough, as they could not afford a larger bed.

So the husband went to his doctor and told him that he and his cousin didn't want to have any more children.

The doctor told him that there was a procedure called a vasectomy that could fix the problem but that it was expensive. "A less costly alternative," said the doctor, "is to go home, get a cherry bomb, (fireworks are legal in Alabama) light it, put it in a beer can, then hold
the can up to your ear and count to 10.."

The Alabamian said to the doctor, "I may not be the smartest tool in the shed, but I don't see how putting a cherry bomb in a beer can next to my ear is going to help me."

"Trust me," said the doctor.

So the man went home, lit a cherry bomb and put it in a beer can. He held the can up to his ear and began to count!

Bipartisanship, Progressive Style

Barack Obama has proposed a bipartisan health care summit for later this month that Republican detractors bill as a publicity stunt designed to generate more support for the flailing pro-abortion health care bill. Now, an aide to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi essentially admitted that’s the case.

Nancy Pelosi’s top health care aide admitted to the National Health Policy Conference hosted by Academy Health and Health Affairs that the bipartisan health care summit later this month is a trick.


Republicans should be wary of attending this conference, We the People are watching and We WILL remember in November.

On Patroitism

Nicki Fellinger over at The Liberty Zone has written an essay on the meaning of true Patriotism.

Here is a little taste:

Patriotism is defending all rights, no matter how difficult or distasteful. Patriotism is recognizing and loving the fundamental principles that protect those rights. That is what our men and women in the military do every day. Voltaire once wrote, "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." That is the code American service members live by every day. They have sworn to protect, not the government, not politicians, but the very fundamental principles that make us America.
Patriotism is the love of those ideals that make this nation great. Honor, courage, freedom, opportunity and equality. Patriotism is not blind, unquestioning worship of those in power because their words are pretty and their platitudes are powerful. Patriotism is questioning your government... and the courage to voice those doubts. Patriotism is not blind condemnation of government, no matter what. Patriotism is the ability to reason and the courage to be reasonable. Patriotism is having the self control and the discipline not to whip out the patriotism card every time another voices a view with which you disagree.

Do yourself a favor and go read the rest.

I agree with Nicki 100% with every word she has spoken. (whiping out my own immigrant card) I understand what she meant when she said:

These are the principles and ideals that prompted me to enlist in the Army after graduating from one of the top universities in the country, instead of going to work at some high-powered corporation, making tons of money. These are the principles and ideals that allowed me to choose my future and my destiny, based on my own value system."

I too was prompted by those same principles to wear this country's uniform. It was important to me that I contribute in some small way to protecting those Principles that allowed me the freedoms I enjoy as an American. Honor demanded nothing less.

I think that all too many natural-born Americans take what this nation offers for granted; it almost seems that you have to experience how other nations operate to really appreciate the freedom we enjoy here every day. That is the only explanation I can come up for why so many of our citizens are standing silent while allowing those freedoms to be eroded a little every day...

Red Friday

I got reminded of this in my E-Mail today. You can be sure that every Friday will be a "Red Friday" for me !

If the red shirt thing is new to you, read below how it went for a man.

Last week, while traveling to Chicago on business, I noticed a Marine sergeant traveling with a folded flag, but did not put two and two together.

After we boarded our flight, I turned to the sergeant, who'd been invited to sit in First Class (across from me), and inquired if he was heading home.

No, he responded.
Heading out I asked?

No. I'm escorting a soldier home.
Going to pick him up?

No. He is with me right now. He was killed in Iraq , I'm taking him home to his family.

The realization of what he had been asked to do hit me like a punch to the gut. It was an honor for him. He told me that, although he didn't know the soldier, he had delivered the news of his passing to the soldier's family and felt as if he knew them after many conversations in so few days.

I turned back to him, extended my hand, and said, Thank you for doing what you do so my family and I can do what we do.

Upon landing in Chicago the pilot stopped short of the gate and made the following Announcement over the intercom:

"Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to note that we have had the honor of having Sergeant Steeley of the United States Marine Corps join us on this flight. He is escorting a fallen comrade back home to his family. I ask that you please remain in your seats when we open the forward door to allow Sergeant Steeley to deplane and receive his fellow soldier. We will then turn off the seat belt sign."

Without a sound, all went as requested. I noticed the sergeant saluting the casket as it was brought off the plane, and his action made me realize that I am proud to be an American.

So here's a public Thank You to our military Men and Women for what you do so we can live the way we do.

Red Fridays
Very soon, you will see a great many people wearing Red every Friday. The reason? Americans who support our troops used to be called the "silent majority." We are no longer silent, and are voicing our love for God, country and home in record breaking numbers We are not organized, boisterous or overbearing.

Many Americans, like you, me and all our friends, simply want to recognize that the vast majority of America supports our troops. Our idea of showing solidarity and support for our troops with dignity and respect starts this Friday -- and continues each and every Friday until the troops all come home, sending a deafening message that ... Every red-blooded American who supports our men and women a far, will wear something red.

By word of mouth, press, & TV -- let's make the United States on every Friday a sea of red much like a homecoming football game in the bleachers. If every one of us who loves this country will share this with acquaintances, coworkers, friends, and family, it will not be long before the USA is covered in RED and it will let our troops know the once "silent" majority is on their side more than ever, certainly more than the media lets on.

The first thing a soldier says when asked "What can we do to make things better for you?" is. "We need your support and your prayers."

As a veteran that served in a foreign post I can attest to the power of knowing that the folks back home support and pray for you means to every Serviceman on the front lines.

Let's get the word out and lead with class and dignity, by example, and wear something red every Friday.

The Cowboy Boots

(Anyone who has ever dressed a child will love this one!)

Did you hear about the Texas teacher who was helping one of her kindergarten students put on his cowboy boots?

He asked for help and she could see why..

Even with her pulling and him pushing, the little boots still didn't want to go on. By the time they got the second boot on, she had worked up a sweat.

She almost cried when the little boy said, 'Teacher, they're on the wrong feet.' She looked, and sure enough, they were. It wasn't any easier pulling the boots off than it was putting them on. She managed to keep her cool as together they worked to get the boots back on, this time on the right feet...

He then announced, 'These aren't my boots.'

She bit her tongue rather than get right in his face and scream, 'Why didn't you say so?' like she wanted to. Once again, she struggled to help him pull the ill-fitting boots off his little feet. No sooner had they gotten the boots off when he said, 'They're my brother's boots. My mom made me wear 'em.'

Now she didn't know if she should laugh or cry. But, she mustered up what grace and courage she had left to wrestle the boots on his feet again.

Helping him into his coat, she asked, 'Now, where are your mittens?'

He said, 'I stuffed 'em in the toes of my boots.'

She will be eligible for parole in three years.....!

Harry Reid Buys A Car.



Senator Reid goes to a local GM dealer in Washington, D.C. With the intention of buying a brand new vehicle. Harry looks around and finds one he likes.

After going back and forth with the salesman, Harry settles on a price of 45,000.

Harry and the salesman go back to the office to complete the paperwork. Harry works out a 4 year payment plan, and signs on the bottom line.

The salesman shakes Harry's hand and says, "Thanks Senator Reid, the car will be ready for pickup in 4 years." Harry says, "What are you talking about?

Where are the keys to my new car?" The salesman replies, "No, you don't understand Senator. You make payments for 4 years...THEN we give you the car. You know, just like your health plan".

Australian Gun Law Update

The gun control lobby here in the United States are always claiming that their "sane" gun control laws don't work because of the fact that they are instituted in a State by State manner and not on the Federal level...Well, Australia DID institute a NATIONWIDE ban...and being a self contained island continent, they don't have the problem of having a porous border where weapons can be easily smuggled through.

Let's check in with law enforcement and see how that experiment is going...

Hi Yanks, I thought you all would like to see the real figures from Down Under.

It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by a new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by our own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars.

The first year results are now in:

Australia-wide, homicides are up 6.2 percent,

Australia-wide, assaults are up 9.6 percent;

Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!

In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent. (Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not and criminals still possess their guns!)

While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since the criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.

There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the elderly, while the resident is at home.

Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in 'successfully ridding Australian society of guns..' You won't see this on the American evening news or hear your governor or members of the State Assembly disseminating this information.

The Australian experience speaks for itself. Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws affect only the law-abiding citizens.

Take note Americans, before it's too late!

Will you be one of the sheep to turn yours in? WHY? You will need it.


We on the side of allowing private ownership of guns for self protection now have the real world evidence to prove our contention that gun control only serves to make victims of the general populace and that gun laws only affect the law-abiding. I don't know WHY this FACT is so hard for the GFW's to comprehend, other than common sense is so hard to find within the GFW mentality.

WINTER BLONDE

As a trucker stops for a red light, a blonde catches up. She jumps out of her car, runs up to his truck, and knocks on the door.


The trucker lowers the window, and she says "Hi, my name is Heather and you are losing some of your load."

The trucker ignores her and proceeds down the street.

When the truck stops for another red light, the girl catches up again.
She jumps out of her car, runs up and knocks on the door.

Again, the trucker lowers the window. As if they've never spoken, the blonde says brightly, "Hi my name is Heather, and you are losing some of your load!"

Shaking his head, the trucker ignores her again and continues down the street.

At the third red light, the same thing happens again.

All out of breath, the blonde gets out of her car, runs up, knocks on the truck door. The trucker rolls down the window. Again she says "Hi, my name is Heather, and you are losing some of your load!"

When the light turns green the trucker revs up and races to the next light.

When he stops this time, he hurriedly gets out of the truck, and runs back to the blonde.


He knocks on her window, and after she lowers it, he says...

"Hi, my name is Mark, it's winter in Indiana, and I'm driving the
SALT TRUCK!"

Murtha

The only person that I have ever heard referred to by other Marines as an EX-Marine has died. John Murtha died today from complications of gall bladder surgery.

I do not feel sorrow at his passing, although I can feel sympathy with his family for their loss. I believe that Mr. Murtha's public actions over the last few years merit his gaining that ultimate stigma of dis-approval. Those actions helped get good men and women killed, and he deserves to be held responsible for those actions.

It is not up to me to determine his eternal fate, that is up to someone far better able to fairly judge than I. I have the feeling though, that fate does not include being welcomed into the fraternity guarding the streets of Heaven.

That's the main difference between Conservatives and Socialists. Conservatives realize that in order to be truly free, the individual must be free to FAIL. Failure can be the best teacher and motivator there is. Ask any self-made millionaire and they will acknowledge that they had many failures before they found that one correct path to success, and that success in itself does NOT mean that they will not fail again in the future.

The Socialists seem to believe that everyone has the "right" to achieve the equal level of success as everyone else; and that governance is best left in the hands of the elite "experts", failing to realize that those "experts" are as prone to failure as anyone else is.

No one or group of people is capable of knowing everything and the inter-relationship of factors that effect every decision. One size fits all decision making is detrimental to the group as a whole in the long term and that is why Socialism has spread nothing but misery in EVERY instance where it has been tried.

R.I.P.

Today I went to the funeral of my best friend's mother.

I have been friends with Bob since we met in the fourth grade;growing up, I spent almost as much time at his house as I did my own, and his mother always treated me as if I was one of her own.

The funeral had it's sadness in knowing that a wonderful woman would no longer be there in our lives, but there was also joy in knowing that she was finally at peace and no longer in any pain.

One of our old classmates wrote a poem that exactly fit the feelings of everyone that knew Gerri

A beautiful angel is all that is here
Saying Oh Lord please leave me here
Not ready to leave but has to go
Wants to go back but God says no
A Husband and Children
Grandchildren and Friends
A meaningful life that suddenly ends
An Angel is what she was meant to be
How I think of all that she can see

POLK COUNTY FLORIDA SHERIFF GRADY JUDD

An illegal alien in Polk County Florida who got pulled over in a routine traffic stop ended up 'executing' the deputy who stopped him. The deputy was shot eight times, including once behind his right ear at close range. Another deputy was wounded and a police dog killed. A state-wide manhunt ensued.

The murderer was found hiding in a wooded area and as soon as he took a shot at the SWAT team, officers opened fire on him. They hit the guy 68 times.

Naturally, the liberal media went nuts and asked why they had to shoot the poor undocumented immigrant 68 times.

Sheriff Grady Judd told the Orlando Sentinel: 'Because that's all the ammunition we had.' Now, is that just about the all-time greatest answer or what!

The Coroner also reported that the illegal alien died of natural causes. When asked by a reporter how that could be since there were 68 bullet wounds in his body, he simply replied "when you are shot 68 times you are naturally gonna die."

That's an even better answer !!

The Pope and Nancy Pelosi are on stage in front of a huge crowd.

The Pope leaned towards Mrs. Pelosi and said, "Do you know that with one little wave of my hand I can make every person in this crowd go wild with joy? This joy will not be a momentary display, like that of your followers, but go deep into their hearts and for the rest of their lives, whenever they speak of this day, they will rejoice!"

Pelosi replied, "I seriously doubt that...with one little wave of your hand? Show me."

Nasa gets Sliced.

Well, it looks like we won't be going back to the Moon, or get to Mars anytime soon. Old picture like the one above will be the only memory of our former achievements with no really noteworthy memories to add.

pResident Obama(POH), with all of his infinite wisdom has cut funding for the Constellation program and almost other programs designed to get the U.S. back to space in any meaningful way. He seems to want to change Nasa's role from being a space agency to one of being a climate research agency. (despite recent revelations that show a great deal of the climate change "emergency" is based on outright fraudulent manipulation of data.)

I have great reservation on taking this tack. It's good that private enterprise will now have a greater chance to allow the free market to do it's magic in space exploration, BUT, like any gigantic enterprise of man, sometimes government does have a major role in advancing a goal.

Space was a Geopolitical tool that could be used to great effect in international relations. The national prestige garnered was more than worth the cost of the program. I can still remember that moment in 1969 when Neil Armstrong was the first man to set foot on another world. I remember the pride we felt as a nation that AMERICA was the nation that could dare to be great; that we as a people could dream big and then achieve that dream. We have lost that inspiration, we no longer even try to dream the dream. Just think what it will feel like when a Chinese Astronaut takes down that flag planted by Armstrong and replaces it with the Red Star. I believe it might be time to start learning Chinese so that we can communicate with the new world leader, for a country that can't dream big and, more importantly, achieve great goals cannot maintain a position of leadership for long.

Some people always questioned the cost of the Space program, saying that that money could be better spent in another "social justice" type program for people here on Earth...and yes, the costs of space research ARE high...

I would propose they think about it in an another way by posing this challenge:

Name ONE major scientific breakthrough in the last thirty years that didn't come about either directly, or as a side benefit, from the Space program.

A great many things that we take for granted would never have been developed without that impetus. The computer I'm posting this from probably wouldn't exist today without NASA's research leading the way. That cell phone you love to hate? Totally dependent on space technology.
Manufacturing (new techniques, materials), Medicine (technology and basic research of the functions of the human body), and Science (need I really show examples?) have all made quantum leaps forward because we had the Big Dream and the will to pursue it.

The only hope for continued progress now is that private industry will have the will to do what what we as a nation do not.

It WILL do so, as long as the government doesn't get in the way, but from the actions the pResident has taken so far (that hinders the private sector), that might be a faint hope.

The Leftist Vision for Government

The Obama deficit will weigh the nation down.

As we noted last week, Barack Obama is now paying lip service to fiscal conservatism by calling for a "freeze" on federal spending in the face of huge deficits. Yet the freeze would apply to only a small fraction of spending and save a measly $15 billion -- and not until 2011. With Monday's budget release, in which outlays will reach $3.72 trillion for fiscal 2010 and $3.83 trillion in 2011, this political posturing becomes all the more disingenuous.

While the projected deficit will hit a record $1.56 trillion this year and a cumulative $5.08 trillion over the next five years, spending will reach 25.4 percent of GDP this year, a post-World War II record. The phony freeze simply sets a new floor for government largesse -- a floor that's nearly 30 percent higher than in 2008.

The Wall Street Journal reports, "Despite talk of 'tough choices' in [Monday's] document, the Administration wants $25 billion in new spending for states for Medicaid, $100 billion for yet another jobs 'stimulus,' big boosts in spending for low-income family programs, for health research, heating assistance and education." Additionally, the budget moves Pell Grants out of the "discretionary" spending column and into the permanent entitlement one at a cost of $307 billion over 10 years.

To finance this growth in government, including the assumption that ObamaCare and cap-n-tax become law, the budget includes nearly $2 trillion in tax increases over the next decade. Yet Obama had the gall in his SOTU to declare, "Now, let me repeat: We cut taxes." Characteristically, the budget drops one of these cuts after 2012 -- the $400 payroll tax credit.

When Congress repeals the Bush tax cuts and returns the top rate from 35 percent to 39.6 percent, Obama's budget will increase taxes by $1 trillion for individuals earning more than $200,000 a year and couples earning $250,000. The 33 percent rate would also rise to 36 percent. Capital gains and dividends would be taxed at 20 percent, up from 15 percent now. Some deductions for higher wage earners would also be reduced. Yet the Obama budget would extend the Bush tax cuts for singles and couples under the $200,000/$250,000 threshold. With this, we suppose, would come a grudging admission that the Bush tax cuts benefited everyone.

Obama's class warfare and targeted tax increases are outrageous, to say the least. Many of those so-called "wealthy" people who he thinks can spare a dime are small business owners and entrepreneurs who will now be unable to hire that additional employee because of higher taxes.

These are just a few examples of the appalling items in the new budget. Our primary objections, however, are rooted not in numbers but in the nation's founding ideals. Most of the present federal budget is extraconstitutional. Provisions for Medicaid, jobs, family programs, health research, heating assistance and education -- all items mentioned above -- are nowhere to be found in the Constitution.

For someone like Obama, for whom everything begins and ends with government, the Constitution is little more than parchment under glass. He repeatedly asserts "that Washington is the answer to everything," writes columnist and former Reagan speechwriter Peggy Noonan. In his SOTU, she adds, "The people are good but need guidance -- from Washington. The middle class is anxious, and its fears can be soothed -- by Washington. Washington can 'make sure consumers ... have the information they need to make financial decisions.' Washington must 'make investments,' 'create' jobs, increase 'production' and 'efficiency.'"

While he was California Governor, Ronald Reagan said, "This is the issue [at hand]: Whether we believe in our capacity for self-government or whether we abandon the American revolution and confess that a little intellectual elite in a far-distant capitol can plan our lives for us better than we can plan them ourselves."

The budget is further proof that Obama and the Democrats think that they can spend your money and plan your life better than you can. That's the antithesis of liberty.

It is Outrageous that Obama and company can try to foist off this proposed budget and tell We the People that they are trying to get the deficit under control. Hopefully, enough people have woken up to just what Obama meant when he talked about "Hope and Change" during the election. He Hopes we are too busy trying to survive to notice that he wants to Change this country to the path of Nanny State Socialism.

A practical study of Socialism

This Professor is a Genius

An economics professor at a local college made a statement
that he had never failed a single student before, but this year
had failed an entire class.

That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and
that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great
equalizer.

The professor then said, "OK,
we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan".

All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the
same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone
got a B.
The students who studied hard were upset and the students
who studied little were happy.

As the second test rolled around, the students who studied
little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard
decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.
The second test average was a D!
No one was happy.

When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F..

The scores never increased as bickering,
blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no
one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told
them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when
the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great but when
government takes all the reward away, no one will try or
want to succeed.

Could not be any simpler than that.

Gotta love a kid logic!

Little Melissa comes from Chance Cove Newfoundland and attends third grade.

After school she tells her father that they learned about the history
of Valentine's Day.

"Since Valentine's Day is for a Christian saint, I was wondering if I
gave a Valentine to someone who was not, will God get mad at me for
giving them a valentine?"

Melissa's father thinks a bit, then says "No, I don't think God would
get mad. Who do you want to give a Valentine to?"

"Osama Bin Laden," she says.

"Why Osama Bin Laden," her father asks in shock.

"Well," she says, "I thought that if a little Newfoundland Christian
Girl could have enough love to give Osama a Valentine, he might start
to think that maybe we're not all bad, and maybe start loving people a
little bit. And if other kids saw what I did and sent Valentines to
Osama, he'd love everyone a lot. And then he'd start going all over
the place to tell everyone how much he loved them and how he didn't hate anyone anymore."

Her father's heart swells and he looks at his daughter with new-found
pride. "Melissa, that's the most wonderful thing I've ever heard."

"I know," Melissa says, "and once that gets him out in the open, our
Canadian Soldiers can shoot the bastard."

Canadian Health Care

The Canadian National Health Service is held up by U.S. Progressives as being the model we should follow here in the U.S. They claim it's "one of the best in the world"...Yeah Riiiiight.

It's so good that when a major Canadian political player is in need of heart surgery, he comes to the U.S. to get it. Seems the procedure he requires isn't available in the CNHS...

Do we really want to follow the Canadian model?

Cold Water Cleaning

John went to visit his 90 year old grandfather
in a very secluded, rural area of Saskatchewan

After spending a great evening chatting the night away,
the next morning John's grandfather prepared
breakfast of bacon, eggs and toast.

However, John noticed a film like substance on his plate,
and questioned his grandfather asking,

'Are these plates clean?'

His grandfather replied,

'They're as clean as cold water can get em.
Just you go ahead and finish your meal, Sonny!'

For lunch the old man made hamburgers.

Again, John was concerned about the plates,
as his appeared to have tiny specks around
the edge that looked like dried egg and asked,

'Are you sure these plates are clean?'

Without looking up the old man said,

'I told you before, Sonny, those dishes are as
clean as cold water can get them. Now don't you
fret, I don't want to hear another word about it!'

Later that afternoon, John was on his way to a nearby town
and as he was leaving, his grandfather's dog
started to growl, and wouldn't let him pass.

John yelled and said,
'Grandfather, your dog won't let me get to my car'.

Without diverting his attention from the football game
he was watching on TV, the old man shouted!

'Coldwater, go lay down now, yah hear me!'

That's the trouble when you elect somebody that has never had to try to run a business in his life. To Mr. Obama, business is just a calf to be slaughtered on the altar of social consciousness by the high priest of almighty government..
